Abstract

623,335. Fixing turbine blades. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. May 1, 1947, No. 11682. Convention date, May 4, 1946. [Class 110(iii)] In a turbine or like machine in which the blade roots 2 are inserted at a widened portion 4 of the holding groove 3 and moved along the groove into position, the gap between the last blade to be inserted 6 and the wall of the widened portion of the groove is closed by a filling piece made in several parts 7 which are introduced into the gap through a widened portion 9 of the gap. The last part to be inserted 8 is secured by a pin over which the part is caulked, as at 12, or by a screw in a tapped hole between that part and the wall. The widening at 9 may be formed either in the last blade root, as shown, or in the wall of the widened portion of the holding groove.
