Abstract

640,532. Elastic-fluid turbines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and JOHNSON, J. W. Nov. 26. 1947. No. 31338. [Class 110(iii)]. The gap by which turbine blade roots are introduced to the annular blade groove in the rotor is closed by a block b of dovetailed c r o s s-section held in place by a second piece c. The parts b, c are assembled as shown prior to the machining of the sides of the rotor blade groove. The part c is then withdrawn and the part b moved back from the blade groove. When the blades are in position, the part c is re-inserted and secured by grub screws d.
