Abstract

641,998. Turbines and compressors. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd. Jan. 7, 1948, No. 496. [Classes 110(i) and 110(iii)] [Also in Group XIX] A stator blade 2 of a turbine or compressor is pivotally mounted at 8. Under pressure of the working fluid, the blade tends to turn and exerts a pressure on a piezo-electric element 11 in the circuit of an indicator 13. Two or more blades may be coupled together for this purpose. The indicator gives the value of the torque. The E.M.F. in the circuit may, alternatively, be used to initiate a control as described in Specification 612,414.
