Abstract
587,529. Gas turbine plant ; aircompressors. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd., and HAWTHORNE. W. R. Jan. 31, 1944, No. 1811. [Classes 110 (i) and 110 (iii)] In the air-compressor of a continuous combustion gas turbine plant, the stator part 19 of the low-pressure stage is mounted for rotation on bearings 21, 22. This stator part can be alternatively, held stationary, in normal working by means of a brake 26, 31 or caused to rotate at a lower speed in the same direction as the rotor for starting up, by means of a sun- and-planet gearing 25, 27, 29 and a clutch 33. The clutch and the brake are operated simultaneously by electrical devices.
