861,019. Pile fabrics; yarns and threads. COLLINS & AIKMAN CORPORATION. May 20, 1957 [June 5, 1956(2)], No. 15910/57. Drawings to Specification. Classes 120(3) and 142(4) A woven fabric having two heights of pile to simulate natural fur employs a composite pile yarn consisting either of one or two yarns wrapped round a core yarn or of a plied yarn made from singles having different degrees of crimp; the pile is unravelled by tigering the fabric and passing it over a heated grooved roller running at high speed. Examples include two yarns of 3 denier acrylic polymer or copolymer filaments closely wrapped in opposite directions round a two-ply core of 20 denier filaments of the same material or of nylon or polyethylene terephthalate. Or one close wrapping may be applied to form the beard hairs, and a second wrapping, delivered at low speed so that it is not much longer than the core yarn, may contribute to the undercoat. The core yarn may be a blend of 3 denier vinyl chloride and acrylonitrile copolymer fibre and 3 denier acrylonitrile fibres of normal crimp with 20 denier nylon fibres of greater crimp, two singles being doubled in the opposite direction to the singles twist.
