Abstract
859,450. Thermionic cathode constructions. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 10, 1958, No. 11427/58. Class 39(1). A tubular cathode sleeve 1 which passes through an aperture in a supporting mica spacer 3 has an annular projection 9 which is held against the spacer by a wire 10 welded to the sleeve and extending into engagement with an insulator 15 positioned within another aperture in the spacer. In Fig. 3 the projection is held firmly against the spacer by means of cantilever action by the wire 10 and the reaction of insulator 15 against the anode 8 In Fig. 2 the wire 10 is welded to the sleeve at 11, and one free end is bent down to engage against the spacer 3. The other end has one branch engaging in the insulator 15 and another branch extending upwards to form a cathode connection 12 passing through the tube envelope. The cathod is described as embodied in a booster diode, Fig. 1 (not shown).
