Abstract

958,224. Thermionic cathode tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 13, 1960 [Sept. 16, 1959], No. 31495/60. Heading H1D. In a discharge tube, an indirectly-heated tubular cathode 1 is located relative to an insulating member 2 by a metallic rod 6 welded on the cathode without deformation of the cathode. The rod 6 extends transversely of the cathode, intermediate its ends, and only contacts a part of the cathode periphery. The crosssection of the cathode 1 and/or the rod 6 may be circular instead of rectangular as shown.
