Abstract

842,822. Thermionic-cathode tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 21, 1958 [Oct. 23, 1957], No. 33603/58. Class 39(1). In an indirectly-heated cathode, the insulated wire forming the heater is surrounded and centred by a supporting body of bare metal, the said support being secured independently of the cathode sleeve. Fig. 1 shows a diode having anode 13 and cathode 4. The heater 6 has wound round it a supporting helix 7 of bare molybdenum or tungsten wire, which is secured to supports 8 and 9. One end of the heater is also connected to support 9. The helical support 7 may be wound round a pair of backbone rods, after the manner of a grid, the rods then being secured to the supports 8, 9, Fig. 2 (not shown).
