Abstract

592,262. Discharge apparatus. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. Jan. 10, 1944, No. 483. Convention date, May 31, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] An electrode is mounted on a conducting member having a dome-shaped surface and strips serving as leads for an adjacent electrode conform in shape to the dome surface. In the form shown, the grid 22 is on a mandrel 23 carried in a slot in the metallic member 17 secured in the terminal cup 13. The anode 28 is supported by a pair of metallic strips having arcuate portions 30 uniformly spaced from the curved surface of grid support 17 and similar supports may connect the ends of the straight wire cathode 14 to a pair of leads similar and parallel to the anode leads 34. The device has a metal base 35 which may be at ground potential with a tube 36 for each lead with which a tunable coaxial line may be associated. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification, Fig. 5 (Cancelled), wherein the grid is carried by flanged supports 43 secured to a metal base and the anode consists of bent metal members 42 with tapering portions 41 extended to grip the leads 34. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
