Abstract
858,016. Pulverent-fuel furnaces. WALTHER & CIE A.G. Aug. 28, 1957 [Aug. 30, 1956], No. 27087/57. Class 51 (1). A boiler plant using pulverent fuel is fired from L-shaped combustion chambers 4 lined with cooling pipes and having outlets 6, 6<SP>1</SP> for the removal of liquid slag. Burners 5, 51 are mounted in the roof of each chamber and slag screens 7, 7<SP>1</SP> are provided at the sides of the chambers remote from each other for the combustion products which then pass into radiation spaces 8, 81 at the end of which they are at a temperature near the softening point of slag. At 12 the products unite to flow through the radiating and contact heating surfaces 13 of the boiler. Brickwork 10 between the bounding tube walls 9, 91 of the chambers houses air passages 11 which can be reached through a chamber 14 accessible from outside.
