Abstract
1,127,948. Radiant heating tubes. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 31 March, 1967 [5 April, 1966], No. 15066/66. Heading F4B. High velocity gas burners 4 fire into radiant refractory tubes 3 mounted in recesses 2 in at least the side walls 1<SP>1</SP> of a brick lined furnace chamber 1. The inlet ends 3<SP>1</SP> of the tubes are adjustably spaced from the burners, to induce recirculation of gas from the chamber through the tubes to equalize temperatures throughout the tube lengths. The gaps 6 at the outlet ends of the tubes may also be adjustable. In a modification, aligned tubes with a space between them are fitted into the recesses with burners firing into the non-adjacent ends of both tubes.
