Abstract

1,035,517. Forced-flow vapour generators. SULZER BROS. Ltd. May 23, 1963 [June 8, 1962], No. 20690/63. Heading F4A. A forced-flow vapour generator comprises a number of tube systems each of which is divided into at least two series connected sections distributed around the combustion chamber walls so that any accidental asymmetrical flame shift with respect to the vertical axis of the chamber causes the thermal loading in one section to vary inversely to that in another section of the same system. In a double-U furnace, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) consisting of ash hoppers 4a, 4b horizontal and vertical flues 2, 3 heated by flue gases and bottom and top parts 1a, 1b of a radiant heated combustion chamber having two rows of burners 6 mounted in the narrow shoulders 5, the combustion chamber tubing belongs, at least in the bottom part 1a, to two different tube systems A and B. System A consists of the tubes forming the wall sections 21, 22 and 25, 26, inlet headers 10A, 12A and outlet headers 11A, 13A, headers 11A, 12A being connected by pipe 29. Correspondingly system B consists of headers 10B, 11B and 12B, 13B, sections 28, 27 and 24, 23, headers 11B, 12B being connected by pipe 30 which together with pipe 29 is outside the combustion chamber. The sections may be disposed at different heights in the combustion chamber and may be connected without leaders, directly, or by another heat exchanger surface disposed in the boiler outside the chamber. In two tube systems the sections may be arranged such that the working medium is at approximately the same temperature in adjacent tubes of the two systems. In modifications, Figs. 3-9 (not shown), the tubes are grouped into 2, 3 or 4 tube systems having up to 4 sections each lining combustion chambers fired by burner rows or by corner burners.
