Abstract
853,900. Clips. F.T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Nov. 22, 1957 [Nov. 27; 1956; March 28, 1957], Nos. 36284/56 and 10191/57. Class 44. A fastener comprises a single strip of spring material bent about lines transverse to the length of the strip into the form of a loop open at one end and having two limbs joined by the closed end of the loop, the closed end of the loop forming a nose 16 for the fastener, a limb 17 being bent outwardly to form an upper leg and then inwardly to form a snap-engaging knee 19 end and a lower leg 22 with a section sheared out of at least one lateral edge of the limb to form a prong 14 at the knee, and both limbs then being bent outwardly to leave a heel 23a, 24a and a foot 23, 24 at the end of each limb. As shown, the fastener consists of a sheet metal blank bent to provide a substantially diamond shape stud having the pairs of feet 23, 24 and pairs of prongs 11, 12 (not shown) and 13, 14 struck from the edges of the blank. The fastener is used to secure a beading to a panel the stud portion being engaged in a rectangular slot in the panel. In another construction, Figs. 6-9 (not shown), the lower legs of the stud portion are of constant width, the feet 23, 24 are wider at their outer ends than at their inner ends and the prongs lie in the plane of the upper legs which may be tapered towards the nose of the fastener. In a simiar construction, Figs. 10, 11 (not shown), each upper leg is formed with only one prong.
