Abstract
592,998. Clothes pegs ; clips. AINSLIE, T. June 6, 1945, No. 14225. [Class 44] A clothes peg is made of a length of resilient wire, metal strip or other flexible material bent to form a long U, each leg 4, Fig. 1, being bent back again so that its outer half 6 lies parallel with its inner half 4. A bulge 7 may be formed at the top of the U ; further down the lugs curve outwardly into a large bulge 8, then meet at 9, then diverge to the feet 5. The upwardly extending legs 6 meet near their top ends at 10, then diverge across the bulge 8, providing a separate grip on the clothes and line. The top part of the peg, above the bulge 8, may be bent round to afford a better grip when applying or removing the peg. If the peg be made of strip metal, a rectangle having a central opening 14, Fig. 4, on one of its long sides is used ; cuts 15 not extending to the ends provide separated sides 16 which form the upturned parts of the legs after the strip has been folded in the middle. The peg is tempered to give it resilience, and is either made of metal which will not injure the clothes, or painted or enamelled to prevent rust.
