Abstract
755,693. Hook fastenings. WALKER, Ltd., T. March 15, 1955 [June 26, 1954; Oct. 19, 1954], Nos. 18810/54 and 30013/54. Class 43. A hook fastening device for wearing apparel such as the waistband of trousers is made from a sheet metal blank, such as 1, Fig. 8, which is bent into hook form to provide a hook-tongue 5, Fig. 1, spaced from a base-plate 11 provided with a plurality of integral prongs 3 and a prong 8 for attaching the device to the material of the apparel, the prong 8 being pressed out from the portion of the blank which forms the bend of the hook. As shown, the prong 8 is formed at the inner end of a central longitudinal slot 4 in the blank 1. In a modification, Fig. 11, a prong 10 corresponding to the prong 8 is formed by a V-shaped slit 16 in the mid-portion of a blank. The front hook-tongue part and the prongcarrying base-plate are of substantially the same size and may be of shapes other than those shown. After penetrating the material of the wearing apparel, the prongs may be clenched on to a back plate.
