Abstract

1,180,522. Hook fastenings. THOMAS WALKER Ltd. 6 Jan., 1969 [6 Jan., 1968], No. 963/68. Heading A3H. A fastening device for use at the outer closed end 16a of garment waistband extension flaps 16 or of narrow pocket portions of garments, includes a fastener member 1 which is secured to the outer surface of the garment material by a number of prongs 8 which are clenched around bar portions 14 of a backing member 2, the member 2 being held on the inner surface of the garment material. The backing member 2 has side parts 12 which support the garment material at each side of the fastener member 1 so as to maintain the shape and flatness of the waistband or pocket portion. The backing member may be constructed from a single piece of wire or may be made of sheet metal or plastics which is then slotted to receive the prongs 8. The bars 14 may be provided with grooves for the prongs 8.
