1,175,068. Strip fastenings. W. J. EWERWAHN. 21 Dec., 1966 [24 Dec., 1965; 15 Oct., 1966 (2)], No. 57169/66. Heading E2S. [Also in Division A3] A fastener for use with textile articles, e.g. textile garments such as a waistband Fig. 1, comprises the combination of a strip of fabric material 2 having transverse and longitudinal elasticity and a plurality of hooks 5 or the like for engaging in meshes of the strip, the strip being attachable to an edge or edge region 3 of the article and the hooks being attachable to another part 4 of the article to permit infinitely variable adjustment of the connection of the strip to the other part of the article. As shown, the strip 2 is formed of a coarse mesh fabric. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown) as applied to a brassiere the strip 2 is applied at one end for engagement by a row of hooks applied at the other end. In other embodiments, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the fastener is used to fasten shoulder straps to the cups of the brassiere, and in Figs. 7-9 (not shown), the strip or the hooks are covered with a strip of material at their surfaces facing the body of the wearer.
