This invention relates to a pistol holster, and has for its principal object the provision of a pistol holster which will form a part of the trousers suspenders of the user, and which will hold a pistol in a concealed position snugly against the body of the user.

It is necessary in certain types of police work and the like to wear a pistol beneath the coat. The usual holster for this purpose consists of a comparatively elaborate system of shoulder and body straps which create excessive bulk beneath the coat, so that it is diflicult to conceal the fact that a pistol is being worn.

The improved holster requires no harness or supporting straps, and comprises a part of the conventional trousers suspenders the latter acting to hold the holster and the gun tightly against the body of the user, so that it will be comparatively inconspicuous and within ready reach. Other objects and advantages reside in the detail construction of the invention, which is designed for simplicity, economy, and efiiciency. These will becomemore apparent from the following description. v

In the following detailed description of the invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawing which forms a part hereof. Like numerals refer to like parts in all views of the drawing and throughout the description.

In the drawing:

Fig. 1 is a perspective view, illustrating the improved holster as it would appear in use with a conventional pistol contained therein; and

Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof with the pistol removed.

In Fig. 1 conventional articles of clothing are designated by numeral as follows: trousers l0, shirt ll, trousers belt l2, suspender strap l3, and suspender buttons 14.

The usual suspender strap l3 terminates in an inverted-V-shaped fastening strap which buttons onto the buttons I4 at its two lower extremities and passes through a snap loop IS on the suspender strap l3 intermediate its extremities. In applying this improved holster this inverted-V-shaped strap is removed from the suspender strap l3 and its place and function is taken over by the improved holster.

The holster is formed from a unitary leather blank of proper shape folded back upon itself and stitched along its adjoining edges, as indicated by the line of stitching IE to form a holster front I! and a holster back 18 shaped to receive a pistol, such as indicated at IS.

The holster front I! is extended outward to one side to form an ear portion 20 having a buttonhole 2| therein. At the opposite side of the holster front I! a second ear 22 is stitched, as indicated by the line of stitching 23. The second car is also provided with a buttonhole 24.

2 The upper portion of the holster front ll contains an elongated horizontal opening or slot 25.

In use, the two buttonholes 2| and 24 are buttoned to the two buttons [4 on the inside of the trousers ID. The snap clip 15 of the suspender strap I3 is then attached through the slot 25.

The pistol I9 is then put in place between the holster front I? and the holster back l8 behind the suspender strap l3, as shown in Fig. 1.

It can be seen that the holster serves two purposes: first, it supports the pistol l9, and. it serves the usual trouser supporting function of the suspenders.

While a specific form of the improvement has been described and illustrated herein, it is to be understood that the same may be varied, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired secured by Letters Patent is:

l. A pistol holster adapted to be positioned between a suspender strap and the suspender buttons on a pair of trousers, comprising: a holster front; a holster back, said front and. back being secured together to form a pistol enclosure; ears extending oppositely outward from said holster front adjacent the bottom thereof,

1 each of said ears being provided with a buttonhole for receiving one of said suspender buttons said holster extending upwardly above said ears for a major portion of its vertical length; and an opening formed in the upper portion of said holster front adapted to receive said suspender strap.

2. A pistol holster adapted to be positioned between a suspender strap and the suspender buttons on a pair of trousers, comprising: a holster front; a holster back, said front and back being secured together to form a pistol enclosure; a first projecting ear portion formed integrally with and projecting sidewardly from said holster front adjacent the bottom thereof; a second ear portion stitched to said holster front adjacent the bottom thereof and projecting from the side opposite the first ear portion, each of said ear portions having a buttonhole for attachment to one of said trousers buttons; and a strap opening formed adjacent the upper edge of said holster front for receiving the lower extremity of said suspender strap.
