DETACHABLE BELT LOOP Filed June l, 1942 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Inventor Patented Mar. 30, 1943 pair S'iTES FFIE 2- Claims.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in detachable belt loops for trousers and has for its primary object to provide an article of this character of simple and practical construction, which may be easily and quickly secured to and detached from the waist band of a pair of trousers and in which the belt loop may also be secured around a belt without completely removing the loop from the trousers.
A further object is to provide an article of this character of simple and practical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout and in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view showing the belt loop in position for attaching a belt to the trousers.
Figure 2 is a plan view of one form of the invention.
Figure 3 is an edge elevational view thereof.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken substantially on a line 44 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a plan view of a modified form of loop construction.
Figure 6 is an edge elevational view thereof.
Figure 7 is a, fragmentary sectional view through the waist band of the trousers showing the form of the invention illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 secured thereto.
Figure 8 is a side elevational view of a further modified loop construction, and
Figure 9 is a fragmentary sectional view through the waist band portion of the trousers illustrating the manner of attaching the belt loop shown in Figure 8 thereto.
Referring now to the drawings in detail and with particular reference to Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, the belt loop is designated at 5 which is preferably constructed of leather or similar flexible material and is provided intermediate its ends with a pair of female snap fastener parts 8 adapted for engagement with the male parts 1 of the snap fasteners secured to the waist band portion of a pair of trousers 8.
Adjacent one end of the loop 5 is secured the male part 9 of a snap fastener having its stud portion projecting from the side of the material provided with the recesses in the parts 6 of the snap fasteners first referred to and adjacent the other end of the loop 5 is secured the female part 10 of a snap fastener adapted for engagement by the parts 9 when the ends of the loop are folded in overlapping relation to each other as shown to advantage in Figure 4 of the drawings.
The ends of the loop are thus adapted for extending around a belt II for securing the belt in position to the trousers.
In the form of the invention illustrated in Figures 5 to 7, inclusive, the belt loop material is designated at H and is provided adjacent each end with the female snap fastener parts 13 adapted for engagement with the male parts of the snap fasteners i4 secured to the waist band portion l5 of the trousers.
When the belt loop 12 is secured to the trousers in the manner indicated around the belt 16, the snap fasteners will be disposed on the inside of the belt. The ends of the loop [2 may be formed with openings ll adapted for receiving a waxed thread l8 to secure the ends of the loop together and in this form of the invention, the loop I2 is retained on the belt it when the loop and belt are removed from the trousers.
In Figures 8 and 9 of the drawings, the belt loop is designated at [9 and is constructed similar to the form of the invention illustrated in Figures 5 to '7, inclusive, except that the staple H! for the ends of the loop is eliminated.
In each form of the invention, it will be apparent that the belt may be easily and quickly removed from the trousers by separating the snap fasteners of the loop from the trousers, or the belt may be removed, in the form of the invention illustrated in Figures 4 and 9, merely by separating one of the snap fasteners. It will be understood the belt loops forming the present invention may be used together with the ordinary belt loops usually provided on uniform trousers, without interfering with each other.
It is believed the details of construction and manner of use of the device will be readily understood from the foregoing without further detailed explanation.
Having thus described the invention what I claim is:
1. A belt loop for trousers comprising a strip of flexible material, a pair of snap fasteners connecting an intermediate part of the strip to the trousers, and a snap fastener connecting the ends of the loop together.
2. A belt loop for trousers comprising a strip of flexible material, a pair of snap fasteners connecting the strip to the trousers, and a snap fastener connecting the ends of the material together in overlapping relation to close the loop.
