c. F. A. ROBB LINGERIE CLASP Filed July 6, 1925 cw/ Z 2 7?, 7? /NVENTOR d Mae W A TTORNEY Patented June 15, 1926.
UNITED STATES -CI-IARLOTTE F. A. ROBE, 0F BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
This invention relates to clasp devices and to a retaining clasp or lingerie straps and, more particularly, to a device which may be readily secured on the inner face of the shoulder portion of dress and which will retain the straps of lingerie or under garments on the shoulders of the wearer and concealed under the dress.
\Vhen lingerie or under garments having shoulder straps are worn the straps have a tendency to fall oil' from the shoulders and interfere with the movements of the 31"18, and when worn under low necked or sleeveless dresses or waists become exposed and give an unsightly appearance. In order to insure the retention of the straps under the shoulders of the dress and on the shoulders oi? the wearer, it is necessary to secure the straps to the under surface of the dress in such a manner as to prevent their sidewise movement and with a securing means which is inconspicuous and readily mountable and removable from the dress and which will permit the straps to be easily secured and released.
An object of my present invention is to provide a metallic lingerie clasp or" simple, unitary, structure, which may be readily and incons )icuously secured to the under seam of the shoulder of the dress and which will retain the lingerie straps on the shoulder concealed beneath the dress while otherwise permitting freedom of movement between the dress and the straps.
Another object ot the invention is to pro vide a securing clasp for closing a retaining loop for shoulder straps which may be readily opened to receive or release the straps without danger of tearing the dress n'iaterial. and which may be readily closed.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a securing clasp which may be stamped from a single, integral, piece of metal in which the pin element may be easily fitted so as to be securely retained; which will hold straps in atlat position; and which will present a smooth, flat, surface to the wearer.
\Vith these and other objects in View, which will be more readily perceived from the following description, the inventon com- LINGERIE CLASP.

prises the device described and set forth in the following specification and claim.
The various'features of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which 1 is a perspective view of a clasp of a preferred form of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the clasp.
Fig. 3 is a side view of the clasp.
1 ndicates a flat piece of metal bent in a U shaped form. The upper portion of the U shaped form metal is bent to form a channel or a receiving recess 2.
The lower part of the U shaped member 1 has a lip 3 which fits into a channel 2. The upper part of the U shaped piece of metal has in it a number of holes 4, spaced propor tionately apart so as to be able to be sewed in securely to the underside of the shoulders of the dress. The opening 5, which is made by this U shaped piece of metal, is for the purpose of permitting the shoulder straps of the wearer to be inserted therein so as to prevent the shoulder straps from moving about or being displaced from their position.
The clasp is sewed on to the underside of the shoulders of the dress by means of openings 4:. The straps are then slipped into the opening made by the bent U shaped piece of metal. The lower part of the U shaped piece of metal is then secured into position so that lip 3 fits into the channel 2 and is kept there securely in position by means of the spring formed by the metallic strip U.
Having described my invention, what I claim is A lingerie clasp comprising a U shaped member of spring metal, one side of said member having openings therein for the passage of stitching therethrough whereby the clasp maybe secured to an article oft wearing apparel, said side terminating in a bentaround loop constituting a spring abutment and retaining means, the other side of said U shaped member having an oft-set portion near its free end, said oil-set portion terminating in a straight edge for cooperating with the end of said bent-around loop retaining means to releasably close the clasp.
