SHOULDEBfSTBAIP HOLDER.
i Appneaaon ma may 14, 192s. serial No. casper To all whom t may concern:
Be it known thatI, CLEMENT J. BALDWIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridger, in the county of Carbon and State of Montana, haveinvented certain -new and useful Im rovementsv in Shoulder-Strap Holders, o which the following is aspect fic-ation.
My invention relates to an improvement in holders for the shoulder straps of lingerie, the primary object thereof being the provision ofsuch a holder that is adapted to be stitched or otherwise secured to the underside of the gown, dress or blouse at the shoulder in such a manneras the straps of any or all undergarments worn` with or under such gown, dress or blouse can be easily inserted within the holder and securely held in place thereby in such a position that the said shoulder straps will not become exposed by reason of the fact that the gown, dress or blouse slips or shifts to ldifferent positions on the wearers shoulders.
A further object of the invention is to provide such a shoulder strap holder that is extremely simple of construction, and one that may be manufactured andgmarketed at relatively small cost.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved holder.
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof, and
Figure 3 is a perspective of the article.
My novel holder designated 5 consists of a single length of flat-like material, preferably metal, so bent upon itself at its opposite ends to provide -a top bar 6, and a pair of lower inwardly extending slightly upwardly converging s ring legs 7 and 8, these legs being connecte to the said top bar 6 through loop portions '9 at the opposlte ends of said bar.
The top bar 6 is preferably provided adjacent its opposite ends with openings 10, whereby the holder may be adequately stitched. to the underside of the gown, dress or blouse at the shoulder and transversely thereof, whereby the lingerie shoulder straps may be engaged between the adjacent ends of the legs 7 and 8 and positioned between said legs and the top bar 6, whereby said shoulder straps will be adequately secured to the shoulder portion of the gown, dress or blouse in such a manner as to preclude the sllpping of the same with respect to the shoulder of the garment. It is of course necessary that the ends of the legs 7 and 8 be. spaced a slight distance apart to permit of the engagement of the shoulder straps therebetween, and in view of the specific relation of these legs 7 and 8, with respect `'to the bar 6, a pair of clasps will be formed at the opposite ends of the holders.
It will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that I have provided a shoulder strap holder that will truly function as above described and although I have herein set forth the most preferred embodiment of the invention with which I am now familiar, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and deslre to secure byl .Letters-Patent, is
A shoulder straholder adapted to be ap pliedto an article of apparel, comprising a strip of material bent upon itself at points spaced from the ends, the extremities of the ends being spaced from each other, the end portions of the strip being anticlined with relation to each other, and the space between the extremities, the intermediate portion of the strip being provided at points adjacent the bends with openings adaptedto receive stitchings whereby the holder may be secured to the garment.
In testimony whereof I aix my si ature.
CLEMENT J. BALD IN.
