PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN SWINLAND, F DULUTH, MINNESOTA.
GARMENT SUPPORT.
Application filed June 9, 1925. Serial No. 35,840.
This invention relates to garment supports and particularly to a support for mens trousers.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a more convenient and efiicient device of this character than heretofore known.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the further description of the invention.
Referring now to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this application, and wherein like reference characters indicate like parts Figure 1 is a perspective view of that portion of the invention which is attached to the terminus of the suspender inside of the shirt of the wearer;
Figure 2 is a perspective View of the member which occurs intermedate of the shirt and trousers band;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the opposite face of the member shown in Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is a Vertical section through a 5 trousers band and one of the assemblages of garment support applied thereto.
14- represents the terminus of an ordinary suspender for application over the shoulders of the wearer to which is attached the depending loops 15 and 16, the former for engagement about the button 17, and the latter to act as a lock for said engagement by its being slipped inwardly on top of said button when engaged by the loop 15, the same being manipulated inside of the shirt of the wearer, indicated at 4:.
The button 17 is carried on a flat metal shield 18 which has attached to the back thereof the wire loop 19 in any desired manner, said loop being for engagement with the button 20, commonly found upon the inside of the trousers band as indicated at 21.
As is apparent from the above all that is necessary in the application of the device is to attach the shield 18 externally of the shirt to the loop 15 inside of the shirt where it may remain irrespective of whether the trousers are attached or the shirt is on the wearer or not, and the trousers are suspendedtherefrom simply by buttoning the ordinary trousers button 20 into the loop 19; the same, as is obvious, being very simple of application.
I claim 1. The combination with a suspender terminal of two cooperative loops for secure engagement with a button, a shield carrying a button upon one side and a loop upon the other, the former for engagement with the loops on the suspender and the latter for engagement with a garment.
2. A garment support comprising a depending member having an opening at the lower end portion thereof and adapted to be positioned inwardly of a garment, another member adapted to be placed outwardly of the garment and opposite the lower end portion of the depending member, an inwardly projecting member rigidly secured to said outer member for engagement with said garment in said opening, and means on said outer member for suspending another garment thereon.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature,
' JOHN SWINLANDQ
