Description

1 Claim.
The invention relates to improvements in attaching clasps and the like and has particular reference to an affixing means arranged as a fastening, adjusting, anchoring means for use in connection with supporting tapes and straps forming part of the various womens nether garments, together with its designed utility with relation to garters, sanitary belts and similar articles of wear.
The object of the invention resides in the providing of a single clasp or buckle structure provided with an apertured supporting body having fastened thereto an attaching tape arranged to be attached to a garment, or other portion of tape or band, the upper section of said apertured body having hingeably mounted or disposed thereon a clamping member of any designed contour, having formed thereon beneath the hinged portion thereof a cam or off-centered boss adapted to either a tape, strand or band of the supporting element of the garment, is interwoven through the apertured body thereof, to lock and clamp the attaching clasp in adjustable relation with the garment and the supporting element therefor.
In the following there is described the general embodiment of the invention, the features thereof being more clearly defined hereinafter in the claim.
In the drawing Fig. 1 is an elevation of the clasps disposed on the supporting straps or tapes of a nether or other garment; Fig. 2 is a face elevation of the clasp or clamping buckle; Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional View of the clasp taken on the line 33 of Fig. 2; and Fig. 4 is an elevation of the clasp showing the clamping member thereof in its open position to more clearly indicate the hinged attaching means and the cam portion thereof for afiixing the clasp in adjustable relation with the tape to be disposed therein.
In the drawing forming part hereof, similar numerals of reference indicate similar parts throughout the several views thereof.
In the drawing I designates a slip or other nether garment having supporting shoulder straps or tapes 2, and 3, a pair of attaching clasps carrying tabs 4, the latter of which is stitched to or otherwise afiixed to the garment I. Said tabs 4 need not necessarily be aifixed to garment l, since same be fastened thereto by any other desirable media.
The clasp or adjustable attaching means comprise a body 5 having formed therein upper slotted aperture 6, central aperture l and lower aperture 8, the upper edge of the latter being serrated at 9 to receive and anchor the attaching tab 4. The top bar I!) is formed in body H of clasp and 3 has mounted thereon a clamp member l2 by means of hinges I3 and has formed on its edge adjacent to and between said hinges l3 a cam or off-centered boss M, which latter serves as the anchoring means when in its closed position for the structure. Supporting strap 2 is laced through the body I l of the supporting means by passing same through the upper aperture 6 over the bar l5 thereof and through the central aperture 1 and depends freely therefrom, and clamp body I2 is snapped into position bringing cam l s' down upon and into engagement with strap 2 at It to grip and bind said strap 2 against cross bar I 5 to securely hold same into adjustable relation with the member to which it is attached,
thusly producing a satisfactory fastening means wherein no metal touches the skin of the wearer; and one eliminating any raised or bulging surfaces by reason of its application.
It is obvious that the structure constituting the invention herein may be varied in many ways without departing from the general spirit of same.
What we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A device of the character described comprising a supporting buckle member having formed therein an upper, a lower and an intermediate slot to produce therein a series of parallel bars, a clasp hingedly mounted on the top bar provided on its inside surface with a cam-lug, teeth formed on the inside edge or" the bottom bar, a tape forming part of a nether garment passing through the lower slot and supported on said teeth of the bottom bar, and a supporting strap threaded through the upper slot and thence through the intermediate slot, and being free on the inside of said buckle and in engagement with the tape in said lower slot, said clasp being arranged when closed to force said cam-lug on said strap and against the second upper bar of said buckle said clasp member being so disposed that when closed it contacts said tape of the nether garment supporting means.
