Abstract
835,229. Pads for shoulder straps. ORTON, F. G. July 26, 1956 [Aug. 2, 1955], No. 22121/55. Class 141 An attachment for a shoulder strap comprises a resilient pad 11 of substantially triangular cross-section having one face covered by a flexible strip 12 of plastic &c. In one form, Fig. 1, the shoulder strap 14 is attached by passing it through loops 13 formed either by attaching separate strips or by providing spaced slits in the strip 12. Alternatively a second strip similar to the strip 12 may be attached along its edges to the edges of the strip 12 to form a continuous tunnel for the passage of the strap. In a further modification, Fig. 2, a tunnel is formed by folding the projecting edges 15 of a wider strip 12 and fastening them together by press studs 16 or hooks and eyes. The Provisional Specification describes also an embodiment wherein a foam plastic pad with a backing strip of linen &c. is inserted in a tunnel on the shoulder strap, the backing strip being longer than the pad and tunnel. In this case the pad may be of rectangular cross-section.
