Abstract
748,032. Shoulder straps. SAVAGE, F. C., and SAVAGE & SONS, Ltd., F. C. May 4, 1954 [May 4, 1953], No. 12359/53. Class 141. A shoulder strap comprises an outer sheath of material, such as nylon, encasing a resilient pad of foam rubber or other resilient material which may be freely located within the sheath or may be secured therein at one or more points. The foundation garment 1, Fig. 1, has shoulder straps 2, 2<1>, consisting of an outer sheath 4 inside which is located a resilient pad 5 with a strip of backing material 6 attached by adhesive or vulcanization to its outer surface. In an alternative form of strap, Fig. 2, the backing material 6, on the outer surface of the pad 5, extends beyond the ends of the pad and is secured to the sheath 4 and the pad 5 by lines of stitching 11, and there is also an additional strip of facing material 6<1> on the inner surface of the pad 5. The shoulder strap may also incorporate portions of elastic material 3, 3<1>, Fig. 1, and 10, Fig. 2, and/or buckles 8, Fig. 2, for adjusting the length of the strap.
