A hose suspender comprises a synthetic plastic body section 40, means, e.g. a slot 407, for attaching the body section to the part, e.g. elastic webbing 42, from which the hose is to be suspended, a slot in the body section having a rounded lower end 402, the marginal portion 404 bounding the under section of which is chamfered and an elongated upper portion 401 which is chamfered at the upper end 406, a synthetic plastic fastening section 41 of a counterpart shape to the slot which is chamfered at the lower end on the outer side and at the upper end on the outer side to permit the fastening section to fit snugly within the slot and means, e.g. a flexible plastic tape 44, attaching the fastening section to the body section. The arrangement is such that the hose is secured to a suspender by first placing the body section on the inside of the hose, then pressing the appropriate portion of the fastening section into the hose using the elongated upper portion as a finger grip and passing the engaged part of the hose and the portion of the fastening section through the slot and subsequently causing the fastening section to be fitted snugly within the slot whereby the fastening section is held in the fastened position by circumferential tension existent in the top of the hose when in wear. Alternatively the body section may be placed on the outside of the hose with the fastening section on the inside. As shown the slot has two lateral extensions 403 through which the fastening section is passed. The tape 44 fits in a groove in the fastening section. In a modification the extensions 403 are omitted, the fastening section being passed through the slot by turning it sideways. The tape 44 may be replaced by a cord and the grooves in the rear of the fastening section may be omitted. Instead of providing a slot 407 the body portion may be attached to the webbing when it is made of a thermo-plastic by using two short lengths of tape. These are placed one on each side of the body at the upper end and by the application of heat and pressure are caused to adhere to the body. The webbing 42 is then sewn between them.
