Abstract

855,256. Garment waistbands &c. NOBELT Ltd. Jan. 13, 1959 [Feb. 27, 1958], No. 1192/59. Class 141 [Also in Group VIII] In a waistband including an elastic strip 2 of sheet rubber or of woven material incorporating rubber threads, a non-elastic non-porous strip 1 of a synthetic plastic material &c. is provided on the surface of the elastic strip nearer the wearer's body. The non-porous strip may be part of a sheath completely enclosing the elastic strip. A strip 3 of elastic textile material may cover the surface of the strip 1 nearer the wearer's body, the layers 1-3 being secured together with the elastic strips under tension, so that pleats are formed in the non-elastic strip 1 when tension is relaxed. In alternative embodiments, the composite band 1, 2 is enclosed between separate textile strips or within an inverted U-shaped textile sheath or within a hem formed at the edge of the garment material.
