Abstract

1,111,786. Garment bands. AUTOMATIC BRAIDING CO. (NOTTINGHAM) Ltd. 13 July, 1966 [14 July, 1965], No. 29778/65. Heading A3V. [Also in Division B5] A resilient band comprises a pair of spaced apart elastic ribbons 2, 3 to which is stuck a textile sheath 1 which completely covers one side of the band and has spaced apart edges E, E1 on the other side. The sheath may cover the latter side of the ribbons 2, 3 completely or as shown in part only. The adhesive 4, 5, 6 and 7 may be applied in transverse strips or in longitudinal strips (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) which may cover the entire area of contact between the sheath and the ribbons or part only of this area. The sheath may be made of knitted interlock fabric and is preferably arranged so that the wales extend transversely of the band. The ribbons and the sheath may be stretched whilst making the band. The band is attached to a garment (Fig. 5, not shown) by stitching and is arranged so that the garment covers the gap between the edges E, E1.
