Abstract

1372062 Waistbands AUTOMATIC BRAIDING CO (NOTTINGHAM) Ltd 25 Feb 1972 [25 March 1971] 8172/71 Heading A3V A garment is provided with an attached composite elastic band comprising a core 2 of a ribbon of elastic (natural or synthetic rubber) and a sheath 3 in the form of a cover strip of textile material folded around the core with the margins 3c, 3d overlapping, the garment material covering the overlap of the margins and being secured to the band by extensible stitching 4, 16 which also secures together the core 2 and sheath 3 these latter two being additionally secured together by adhesive A. Adhesive A' is also provided between the overlapping margins 3c, 3d and instead of a single ribbon of elastic two substantially coplanar ribbons may be used. The margins are shown as being disposed symetrically with respect to the core 2, but they may be disposed nearer one edge of the core than the other if desired, with the stitching 4 taking in the margins 3c, 3d either with or without an additional row of extensible stitching as 16.
