Abstract

864,489. Girdles. INTERNATIONAL LATEX CORPORATION. June 18, 1958 [July 1, 1957], No. 19465/58. Class 141 In a deposited rubber latex girdle, a portion reinforced by an attached piece of non-stretchable fabric is surrounded by an area of intermediate stretchability formed by embedding a relatively stretchable knitted fabric in this area during the process of deposition. The knitted fabric, which is preferably nylon tricot, is arranged with its direction of maximum stretch extending transversely of the girdle. In a girdle with an opening closable by a sliding clasp fastener 15c and hooks and eyes 13, 14, Fig. 3, the embedded knitted fabric 18 projects laterally beyond the tapes 13a, 14a, 15a, 15b carrying the fastener components. Slots 12 for receiving suspender straps, Fig. 4, may be reinforced similarly by a non-stretchable fabric 16 and knitted fabric 21. The fabric 16 is doubled over a rigid bar 17 and enclosed between two plies of nylon tricot fabric 21; this reinforcing assembly is embedded in the latex which has a thickened portion extending beyond the embedded reinforcement.
