Abstract
679,373. Fastening strips; hooks and eyes. GRAHAM, N. E. V. July 28, 1950 [Aug. 13, 1949], No. 21130/49. Classes 43 and 141. A garment fastening device of the type including a strap secured at one end to a part of the garment and having a longitudinally arranged series of anchorages for selective engagement with a hook secured to another part of the garment is characterised in that the strap includes a strip 11 moulded from pliable material with holes 14 and a backing interposed, in wear, between the hook 20 and the body. The holes may be reinforced by beadings 15 or by providing a series of transverse bars adjacent the holes which may be cemented to the strip and interconnected at their ends by thickened edges of the strip. The strip is preferably of plastic material and the backing may be of plastic or textile material and the edges 12 folded over the strip 11 and secured at 13. The hook 20 may be connected to an elastic strap 19 or two or more hooks may be provided. In a modification the strap may be formed from a flattened tube having the holes on one side whilst the other side provides the backing. Alternatively a pliable strip having holes may be secured to a flattened tube of fabric having registering holes in one side. Specification 533,033 is referred to.
