A high-strength aluminium alloy for casting has a composition, in per cent by weight, in the following range:- .Si.6.0-12.0 .Zn.8.0-14.0 .Mg.0.2-1.2 .Al.and impurities the balance The alloy may also contain, as impurities or additions, one or more of the elements: .Fe.up to 1.0 .Ni.up to 0.3 .Pb.up to 0.3 .Ti.up to 0.15 .Sn.up to 0.1 .Cu.up to 2.0 .Cr.up to 0.3 The alloys harden at room temperature without thermal treatment
