Abstract

A brass alloy for pressure or gravity diecasting consists by weight of .Si.2 to 3.75%, .Ni.and/or Co 4 to 11% (1.75 to 3.5 times the .Si content),. .Zn.32 to 45% with or without Pb, Ti, Zr, Al, Fe up to 0.5% each and/or up to 1% Sn the sum being below 1.5%, the balance apart from incidental impurities being Cu at least 45%, wherein %Zn + 10%Si - 1.5% Ni/Co is between 51 and 66.
