An alloy having a fine grain structure in the as-cast condition consists, by weight, of:- Au 39À6-75% Ag 0-30% Zn 0-10% Ni and/or Pd 0À025-2% Ru 0À005-0À05% Cu balance (apart from impurities). The alloy is made by adding Ni-Ru or Pd-Ru master alloy to a melt of the remaining constituents.
