A nickel base alloy comprises:- the balance, apart from impurities, being nickel in an amount of at least 45%. Impurities disclosed are:- Mn up to 1% Si up to 1% Fe up to 5% P up to 0À02% S up to 0À02% W up to 2À5% Nb up to 0À2% V a trace only and residual deoxidizers such as Ca, Mg or R.E. metals. Various heat-treatments are disclosed.
