Homogeneous low alloy steel powder comprises: - the balance, apart from incidental elements and impurities (e.g. residual Al, Ca or Zr deoxidizers and lowest possible amounts of Cu, P and Si), being Fe. The powder may be prepared by atomization of a melt. The powder may be mixed with carbon and processed by powder metallurgy.
