Abstract

1,126,720. Sintered steel alloy. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A. G. June 9, 1967 [June 23, 1966], No. 26856/67. Heading C7A. A sintered steel alloy comprises:- TiC 27-35% Ni 12-26% Co 5-11% Mo 3-7% Ti 0.15-2.4% Al 0.05-0.6% Co to 0À03% the remainder, apart from impurities and incidental elements (e.g. Si, S and P), being iron. The TiC must contain less than 0À1% free carbon. The powders should have an initial grain size between 3 and 5 mÁ, the sintering is preferably performed in a vacuum and the Ti may be added as its hydride and Al as its master alloys with Ni or Fe. The sintered alloy is solution treated at 820- 860‹ C, cooled in air, machined, aged at 400-750‹ C and again cooled in air. The heating stages should be performed in a neutral environment or in an inert atmosphere.
