Abstract

1,192,726. Cemented metal carbides. FELDM HLE A.G. March 21, 1969 [March 23, 1968], No. 14968/69. Heading C7D. A shaped cemented carbide body comprises TiC or TiC and a maximum of 10% by weight of the carbides of WC, the total carbide content being at least 70% by weight, and an alloy of at least one of Fe, Co and Ni and 10-80% of the total metals of Ti and/or Zr. The body may also contain 2-50% of the metal content of W, Cr or Mo. The metals may be added to the carbides as separate powders or as the preformed alloy and the Ti and Zr may be added as the hydrides. The powders should be less than 10 microns and the green compact is sintered above 1400 C. in H 2 or vacuo.
