Abstract
An aluminium based alloy comprises:- .Si.0.5-3.0% .Fe.0.6-1.2% .Mn.0.6-1.2% .Mg.2-12% the balance, apart from impurities, being aluminium. The weight of Mg must exceed that of Si and the Fe and Mn are present in substantially equimolar amounts. Impurities referred to are:- .Su.-0.1% .Cu.-0.2% .Ni.-0.1% .Zn.-0.1% .Ti.-0.1% .Pb.-0.1% .Cr.-0.2%
