Abstract
An aluminium base alloy comprises .Cu.1.5 - 6.0% .Fe.up to 2.5% .Mg.0.15 - 1.0% .Si.5 - 13% .Zn.0.5 - 2.5% the remainder, apart from impurities, being aluminium Impurities mentioned are:- .Mn.up to 0.5% .Cr.up to 0.1% .Ni.up to 0.5% .Ca.up to 0.1% .Sn.up to 0.2% .Ti.up to 0.25% The alloy is pressure die cast at 610 DEG - 690 DEG C. and the casting aged at 100 DEG to 200 DEG C.
