Abstract
1340041 Aluminium alloys ALCAN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 6895/70 Heading C7A An aluminium alloy comprises Zn 5À2 - 6À5 Mg 2À2 - 3À2 Cu 0À3 - 1À5 Zr 0À12 - 0À2 Ag 0À2 - 0À4 Fe 0 - 0À15 Si 0 - 0À12 Al + impurities Impurities may be Ti, Mn, Cr 0À05% total impurities including Fe, Si 0À2 max. Preferably Cu 0À8-1À0 Ag 0À3-0À35. The alloy has high strength + stress corrosion properties and is subjected, after casting to solution heat treatment quenching and artificial ageing. The latter at a temperature of 160-175C. preferably 170-175C. for at least 4 hours preferably 6 hours.
