Abstract
A die casting alloy has the following percentage composition:- .P.2-6.8 .Zn.20-40 .Pb.0-1 .Ni.0-8 .Cu.the remainder and is subject to following restrictions: - (a) the balance factor namely P + 0.16 Zn is from 5.2 to 10.5, (b) the Ni content is not greater than twice the P content, (c) the Ni content is at least 1.1 if the balance factor is greater than 8.9 and also if the P content is greater than 5. The alloy may also include Fe up to 0.25, Al up to 0.1, Ti up to 0.1, Mg up to 0.1, Be up to 0.1, the foregoing totalling not more than 1, Sn up to 1 and Si up to 0.5.
