A sacrificial anode is made of an alloy of the following composition:- .Cd.0.05-0.2% .Al.0.25-0.75% .Si.less than 0.185% and up to 2% total of one or more of the elements Pb, Sn, Cu and Ag, the remainder, apart from incidental impurities, being zinc.
