Abstract

848,718. Fertiliser distributers, seed sowers. COWLEY & SONS Ltd., T. May 14, 1959 [May 29, 1958], No. 17117 /58. Class 6(1). A distributer comprises a wheeled hopper 2 formed with a transversely curved bottom portion 5 provided with discharge openings 7 and a transversely curved plate or shutter 11 which extends along and cooperates with the apertured bottom portion of the hopper, the shutter being arranged to pivot to alter the effective size of the discharge apertures. As shown the shutter 11 is provided with portions 13 which pivot on the wheel axle 8 and an indicator 24 is provided on one of the portions 13. Holes 12 are formed in the shutter and the shutter is positioned and adjusted by means of a handle 14. Discs are mounted on the wheel axle inside the hopper to agitate the material in the hopper. The flow of material from the hopper may be stopped by means of a cover 19 which is operated by a handle 21 to cover up the holes in the hopper and shutter.
