Abstract

825,378. Potato planting machines. TROSTER, H. [trading as TROSTER, A. J. [firm of]]. June 15, 1956 No. 18673/56. Class 6(1). A potato planting machine comprises a number of planting wheels 24 each mounted on a tool frame 26 attached by parallel links 29 to a wheeled chassis 1, the frame 26 being provided with a furrow opening share 27 and has furrow closing discs 28. The rear of each frame 26 is connected to a lifting lever 4 through a control bar 32, a spring 33 enabling the pressure exerted by the discs on the ground to be adjusted. Each wheel 24 is formed with compartments and is provided with a cover plate 37 to prevent potatoes dropping out of the compartments, the wheels being driven by gearing from one of the land wheels 10. A potato hopper 38 is associated with each wheel and is pivoted to the chassis 1 and to the top links 29. Seats 3 are provided for operators who transfer potatoes from the hopper to the compartments in the wheel.
