Abstract

785,674. Potato planting machines. AKTIEBOLAGET OVERUMS BRUK. April 3, 1956 [April 2, 1955], No. 10217/66. Class 6(1). A potato planter comprising a hopper 1 with a driven rolling feed drum with clamping members for picking up single potatoes is characterized in that the hopper is connected to tractor hydraulic lift links 5, 6 and is supported by a wheel 8 which drives the feed drum through belt and pulley gearing 26 and is situated behind and at one side to a furrow forming plough 3. As shown the wheel 8 is mounted at one end of a shaft 16 at the other end of which is fixed a pulley 23 forming part of the gearing 26. The wheel 8 is adjustable on the shaft 16 and is provided with a ratchet device to enable the feed drum to be driven in one direction only. The wheel 8 is in line with one of the tractor rear wheels and the track of the wheel constitutes a marking for the next furrow. The shaft 16 is mounted on a pivoted yoke 30 which is vertically adjustable to tension the belt of the gearing 26. Two earthing up discs 48 are mounted on a lever 49 swingably carried by a bolt 33 and connected to a spring 50. The feed device is as shown in Specification 657,406.
