Abstract
558,270. Seed-sowing and like machines. RANDALL, W. June 25, 1942, No. 8721. [Class 6 (i)] An annular seed or fertilizer container 9 is situated within a drum 1 which may be within or carried by a ground wheel and is rotated by the forward movement of the wheel or from some source of motive power on the vehicle. The peripheral wall of the container is formed with pockets into which the seeds &c drop and by which they are lifted and discharged into a shoot 6 leading to the ground close to adjustable shares 22. The amount of seed delivered to the shoot is adjusted by means of a hinged flap 15 linked to a screwed rod 17 movable by a milled nut 21 within the hollow axle 2. The pockets are fitted with C-shaped liners any of which may be reversed to render the pockets inoperative, and which may be changed to suit the size and quantity of seed &c. In a modification, Figs. 4, 9, duplicate containers 1a, 1b are mounted on opposite sides of twin delivery shoots formed by segmental members 30 clamped between discs 29. The supply to and delivery from the containers is effected through oblique passages in the axle 2, the quantity delivered being regulated by an adjustable plate 31. In both forms ,the axle 2 may be angularly adjusted to vary delivery.
