Abstract

588,378. Insecticide distributers. PEST CONTROL, Ltd., and DORMAN, A. K. Dec. 19, 1944, No. 25459. [Class 6 (i)] An insecticide distributer consists of a hopper mounted on a vehicle intermittently delivering the powder to a continuous blast of air through an air duct and nozzle. Hoppers 9 are mounted on bearings in which a shaft 10 is rotated by the ground wheels mounted on the shaft 10. In each hopper is a drum 11 having one open side on the circumference of which a scoop 12 associated with an aperture 13 carries the powder from the bottom of the hopper and deposits small amounts in shoot 14 which leads to pipes 6. Pipes 6 being connected to manifold 5 and fan 3 have blasts of air which eject each lot of powder at timed intervals. The nozzles 7 situated close to the ground, can be adjusted on shaft 20 both vertically and laterally. In a modification, hoppers feed material into pockets in plates which are reciprocated by cams to bring the pockets into the air line.
