Abstract

669,777. Seed sowing machines. PEST CONTROL, Ltd. Oct. 12, 1950 [July 15, 1949], No. 18738/49. Class 6(i) A seed distributer comprises a rotatable hollow drum 9 provided with a row of circumferentially spaced holes 12 and a hollow trunnion 7 supported in a bearing 3a on a tube 8 connected to a source of suction. The drum 9 rotates on an air inlet tube 11 open to the atmosphere or to a source of air pressure, the nozzle 11a of the tube being situated near the holes 12. The drum 9 passes through a seed hopper 14 to allow seed to adhere to the holes 12 by suction. The seeds are released to drop down a shoot when the holes 12 pass the nozzle 11a. The hopper is roughly triangular in horizontal section and has a floor which slopes down towards the drum so that the seeds will tend to move towards the peripheral wall of the drum.
