[Class 6(i)] [Also in Group XXIV] A seed-sowing attachment for a tractor of the type having trailing draught links 17 supported by power-lift arms 22, includes a pair of verticallyspaced parallel links 42 and 43 connecting the attachment to the draught links and permitting free floating, parallel movement relatively thereto, the attachment comprising a seed dispensing device 15, a hollow furrow-opener 44 and a trailing soil-pressing wheel 45. The draught links carry brackets 25 on which a transverse draw-bar 24 is mounted. Several seed-sowers may be spaced along the draw-bar by parallel links 42, 43 and brackets 46, and marker arms 28 may be associated with the draw-bar. The seed-dispensing device comprises a hopper 87, an apron 50 to which the parallel links are pivoted, and a hollow sowing boot 44, the hopper, apron, and boot forming a rigid structure adjustable, as a whole, relative to a frame 52 by means of a threaded rod 58, to vary the working depth of the boot 44. The frame 52 carries the soil-pressing wheel 45. The distributing mechanism, Fig. 4, includes a rotatable plate 79 having peripheral apertures 80, each receiving a single seed. A spring- loaded roller 101 ejects the seed as each aperture registers with the top of a seed tube 103, mounted within the boot 44. The tube is shaped to conform to the free trajectory of the falling seeds but carries a lip 105 which breaks the fall of the seeds and prevents their rolling along the furrow. The rotatable plate 79 is driven by lugs 72 on a plate 71 in turn driven from the soil-pressing wheel through a belt drive 64 which includes a variable-diameter pulley (see Group XXIV).
